KPS to Begin Text Messaging Service

Emergency Messages Will Continue Through All Channels

Kalamazoo Public Schools is pleased to now offer a text messaging service through our SchoolMessenger system. Currently, that system delivers information about important events such as weather-related closures and school conferences via automated phone calls and email to parents, students, and district staff.

On March 1, you should receive a text message asking if you want to receive text messages from Kalamazoo Public Schools. If you want to receive these messages, you must reply with “Y” or “Yes.”

What You Can Do Before That Day:

What You Can Do After That Day:
1. Continue to keep your child’s school updated if your contact information changes. 2. You can change your messaging preferences here: https:// The sign-up process uses the email address on file with the district. Please note that emergency notifications will still go to all channels (voice/text/email), regardless of the preferences you set there.

3. If at any time you no longer want to receive text messages, you can reply “Stop” to any message from the district.
